Emile's Longboard Challenge Report
Well, the surf was fun and the contest was a success. It was offshore and about waist high for most of the day. There were some longer periods of flatness (like when I paddled out for our 2nd heat), but for the most part the waves cooperated. Met some new and some older faces from the club. Great time!

So now the kids are tired and we're headed home tonight. Cheers to a great after party at Giles house.

Matt Bancroft's Longboard Challenge
Had a great time. Camped with Corey, Brian Jesse, and the Matt on Friday Night At Assategue. Got a little surf in Friday night before lightning forced us to leave the water for dryer ground. Got up at 5 and was suring 38th street by 6. Conditions weren't great but it was a fun surf. About noon Brian, Matt, Corey, and new members Alex and Jenny headed back to Assagteuge. We parked at the southern most lot. I was the last over the dune and paddled way out to the two nearest surfers. As I got out I realized these weren't anybody I knew. Looked like the rest of the crew was down the beach 3/4 of a mile. Started making paddle down the beach but the waves picked up and I surfed where I was. Waves eventually died and I called it a day. Brian, Corey, Jenny, Alex, and Matt sorry I never really made it to the afternoon session.

Rod's Report
It was good to see several of the Club's Founding Fathers alive and kicking. We shared some jokes, some stories, some gossip, some drinks, some food... but NO waves. Well, Bruce tried to share some waves pre-contest but was caught Snaking someone (oh yeah, he is called the HB Snake!).

The two teams performed better than ever in the Longboard Challenge. Not sure that means we placed any higher but everyone seemed satisfied. Doug Rhodes was a last minute alternate probably making him the Golden Eagle of Longboard Challenges (surfed in more than anyone else - has a missed a year since starting in 2002?).

Kahuna Carver's Apologies
Wow nice pics all around! Sorry to miss the waves. I always seem to show up for the margaritas though. I was glad to make it down to Giles place for the surf talk /story telling cook out. Twas fun. BTW I think that close up of giles shows him on a shoulder high wave <Wink>.
