The Chris Smith Report:  The waves looked good at lunch time and my afternoon was clear, so we know what I had to do.  I packed up my stuff and headed east, to arrive at Assateague in a very heavy fog.  I could hear the waves breaking but couldn't see them.  After driving to get there I figured I might as well paddle out and see what was going on.  Because the sun was blocked I opted for a hood, mistake, I was roasting after just paddling out.  The water temp was up to 54 and the waves were waist to chest high and breaking nicely on the outside bar, both right and left.  I had a fun couple of hours in the rush hour conditions, 3 people.  It was very surreal, I could just make out one of the other surfers in the fog.  I had no idea were I was when I got out because you couldn't see the shore until almost to the beach break.  But, I was surprised to find the combination of rights and lefts and minor current left me almost exactly where I started.  The showers were on and it was nice not to drive home salty.

Hopefully the conditions will hold for the folks going again tomorrow.
