The Todd Report:  I Got A Hickey
I met up with Neal and Chris Smith at parole around 5 AM sunday and we headed out towards Delaware. Arrived at the shore area around 6:30 or so and checked North Shores to find a clean knee high wave. we drove down to Gordon's pond to see if we could park there because the main jetty at ns was kinda dumpy, but no luck ( gates were shut). so we paddled out 3 jetties to the left ( basically in front of where we tried to park) and immediately started gettin nice rights.  the sun was out there was no wind and the surf was knee high or better.  later on it seemed that something bumped it up a bit and there were fast moving waist high sets( although some of those were dumping, the ones that came of the jetty provided a nice shoulder) at about 20 til 11 we called it a day (high tide had finally filled in and not much was breaking), numb and smiling. the snow started to fall a few minutes after we pulled out of the lot but wasn't a problem driving back...

on another note i picked up a hood from east of maui that left a rash ring around my neck that looks like a giant hickey. so I've been dealing with 'what is that on your neck' and 'who did that to you' all morning... heh oh well :)

Carvin' Tales: "No Hickeys Here"
Todd, you didn't have that hickey before you went over the dunes with Kirk's friends... ?  Actually it wouldn't be too hard to sew that hood on to a rashie.  That may eliminate your rash problem.  Forget about having EoM order you anything from O'neill.  Two years ago I asked him to order me a hood rash combo......still waiting (actually given up).

Todd I agree that the waves looked knee high at first.  Glassy ground swell always looks smaller than it really is.  But hey, tell it like it was.  None of us actually took off on anything less than waist.  I can recall Chris waiting on the outside where numerous chest high sets came through. Even though they were dumpy, he still got a couple of those puppies.  It couldn't have been knee high...I paddled back in after one wave and retrieved my 6'6" then spent an hour and a half on it.  I would have never ridden the little guy on knee high stuff.

Wise man say "the road to legendary surfing is paved with fish stories"
