The newest member of the club, Chris Smith, and I hit the road early on day one 2003. As I predicted we had waist high surf with an occassional chest hight wave. Very clean from 7 to 9am at NJs. Very foggy indeed. But for those of you who love longboarding, you missed a good couple hours of solitude and 100 yrds rides. A full report will come tomorrow. Sorry you guys decided hang at home today. Neal
The Foon Report: KaBoom Ugly boys. Butt ugly. After being up late partying at a big Hotel in OC I managed to stagger to the window at dawn for my report. It was so foggy I could not even see the water. But the sound of lapping mush is unmistakable. I launched myself back to bed. What I thought later was just a bad hangover was in fact "the first thunderstorm of 2003." That's right. In the fog lightning looks like some eerie florescent light blinking on. The fog deepens and subsides by the minute but it cannot hide the fact the surf sucks. The good news is it can only get better in 2003. Good luck this weekend. -Foon Season's Greetings Cold Warriors My best to all ASC'ers in the upcoming new year of surfing! The OC cam is showing some
nicely formed, but very cold waves breaking at 8th St.
