Neal Carver and Rod Rodgers

Neal Carver's  Report (see the Picture Gallery below)

Woke up early hoping to get some of the left over swell from our score on Sunday.  Back in the car to meet up with Rod at am. We rolled out of Annapolis and made good time to the shore.  The sun was out and the wind was off shore.  Things were looking good.  We pulled up to NJs hoping to see waist to chest rollers but were disappointed to see a quickly diminishing swell.  There were a couple of clean lines coming in but very inconsistent on the jetty.  Rod and I ventured to North Shores, and Gordon's Pond and Back to NJs.  Its was getting worse.  I decided I going in with the longboard before all was lost.  Rod poured a little Kahlua in his coffee and headed down to take some pictures.

I paddled out next to the jetty and waited.  It wasn't long before a nice clean thigh to hip size wave rolled in.  I took it and got a nice little ride.  I paddled out and got another one almost immediately.  Rod got some good shots of those.  Good thing cause I found myself waiting endlessly for another.  No dice.  I paddled inside and to the north where I saw a break a little more consistent than the jetty.  I caught a few knee to thigh high waves and actually had some down the line rides ending in floaters to the sand.  Rod roamed the beach taking pictures of the stumps and strange mushrooms.  We were amazed at how much sand has disappeared from the break. The wind kicked up and became more side shore.  I called it quits and headed for the warmth of my car.  I quickly got changed before Rod and I headed to the OC shops to search for cold winter accessories and boards for Costa.  We went to Chauncy's and  exchanged our Cape May story from the previous day and the owner advised that it was as big and clean as he ever saw it in OC. Rod treated me to lunch and then we took off for home.  A total of 652 miles
in two days.....searching for surf.   A combined trip that provided us great surf and a good day away from the daily routine.
