The Skinny
Enjoyable evening.  Bands banged out some great tunes.  Plenty of barbarians in attendance.

One of my personal highlights of the evening was finally meeting ASClub member Mike McCourt and his wife, Tara, and talking a little story with them. I was not disappointed.  Only chatted briefly with Mike before he was called upon to play some acoustic tunes, so Tara entertained me with stories of their 2-1/2 years in Hawaii and her student internship in Costa Rica (why didn't we speak any Spanish?).

We arrived late to the dance, received severe admonishment from the host and headed straight to the margarita bucket to seek redemption.  Treated myself to several fine luau entrees and only a couple of the desserts.  Our entry was awarded a 1st runner-up prize in the main event dish category -- chicken and pork pot sticks with savory sauces.  The miniature surfboard (the 3" replica looks like a Calif. thruster suitable for Blacks Beach or one of the La Jolla reefs) is on display at my office.

Bugged out from the fiesta at around 11pm, the consequence of a long, long drive home and plans for an early start to the beach the next day with my wife, Cooler (my 14 yo pup) and visiting alt.surfing dignitary, Dan King, of San Diego.  Dan is in town for 48-hrs on business... picked him up at 5:30 am and hit it for the beach.

P.S.  George and Art:  sorry we didn't get much or any chance to chat... let's go surfing again soon!

If this picture is a little fuzzy... then you understand the metaphysics of good beer and margaritas fortified with extra shots of tequila

(where's George?)

I didn't take many pics at the party... for some reason I had one hand constantly
on a mug of margaritas and the other reaching for the bottle of tequila to spike up the mix.
Besides, we had a professional photographer from Eastern Surfing Magazine present!

That's still a sorry excuse but I had trouble focusing the camera that evening.
Being late does that to you!

Art and his beautiful girlfriend... hope to be seeing them more down at the beach and in Annapolis soon.

The Doug Rhodes Hot Wash

Enjoyed the party.... The music was much better than I imagined. Had I been stag I certainly would have stayed later. You know how it goes sometimes when wives are involved. Appreciate your hospitality.

Doug

Weekday Wonders

Snake:  "Sorry but early leavers will have to wait until the final report gets posted with pictures on my web site. Interesting that only two ASCrs lasted until around midnight when the party really got going. It ended around 2:30am."

Weekday:  "I got up at 2:25AM to go surfing.....how's that for an excuse?"

RodNDtube:  "If the party had been during the week than Weekday would probably have pulled an all-nighter!"

RodNDtube continues:  "Ms. Enhanced is mighty fun to google and goggle at as the night passes along in a pumped up stuper, but you can tell Amy that as far as this boy is concerned that each and every one of the ASC wahines trump Ms. Enhanced any and every day :) Ms. Enhanced was rather amusing, but "what an outfit!" Was that your winner, Snake? You'll have to post pics
to do with the names."

Weekday pines:  "Enhanced, indeed!  I asked Amy, "Do you think those things FLOAT?" She said that she rolled her eyes and then told Rod, "Yeeeeeah. I'm going into the other room for some cake." Rod's response? "No. All the cake I need is in this room." Amy was highly amused and highly disgusted all at the same time. Kind of like her life with me!

ha ha ha!"
