The Mike Law Report

First - Apologies to Doug and Snake for not meeting up w/ you guys.  I left my official ASC phone list on my dresser this AM.

Spots:  65th St., Ocean City, MD & Assateague Island, MD

65th Street: Waist to Chest (a few +) and H O L L O W as heck I was in the water by 6:40 and there was about 10 guys out.  The waves were lining up nicely and there were some serious tube sections of just about every wave.  I literally must have seen 50 people get barreled before I left at ten.  I got a couple nice ones myself.  On one, I was so deep I could see the lip in front of me.  (Nope - didn't make it :) )  The tide began to fill around 9:00 and 4/5 waves were closeouts.  I surfed until 10:00 when the guards started hassling everyone out.

Assateague - I got to Assateague at about 11:00 after stopping for a bite and getting rerouted by OC's finest due to some stinking parade.  I was really second guessing myself about my decision to surf down there because I saw 3 or 4 cars w/ boards on them heading the other way - BUT - I'm S O glad I rode down there.  It was a bit smaller with the set waves around chest-high but it was lining up better than I've seen it in 2 years.  There was absolutely ZERO wind!  It was so glassy the waves looked like paper-thin crystal walls.  It was it's typical mushy self but there was enough size that you could work a wave from the outside all the way to the sand.  It was great.  Two guys out - I had a blast.

How was it at NSIRI?  Hope you guys scored!

Mike

The Doug Rhodes Report

Mike, first of all...... Lame excuse for not hooking up with us (just kidding).

I got to NSIRI around 0540 Saturday morning and was the only one out for the first hour and a half.  Waist high and glassy, wind WSW at about 5-7 mph, but breaking relatively close to shore and sporadic at best.  I witnessed NSIRI break the best I have seen Friday night though (around 7:00PM).  It was waist to chest high with peaks, yes peaks, popping up all over the place.  There were about 25 people out and I would have been one of them had my wife and I not been on the road to Lowes in Lewes......I tell you it was a superb condition.... Back to Saturday...Bruce showed up around 7:15 and decided to take in some waves.  It didn't really get much better but we surfed till around 9:30 or so until we were both pretty worn out.  Bruce got a few good lefts in and I was doing my best to get passed the shoulder on some rights which eventually closed out anyway.  It was an okay morning but not what I had anticipated considering the previous night.  Bruce and I parted our ways since he was going downtown visiting club friends and I had to do my part in keeping a surf marriage together ie..... shopping, working around the house, etc...... I will be on vacation next week and would like to hear from you guys who trek down to the shore.  Maybe we can have a mid-day cookout at the house before or after a session or two.  See my tele numbers in the ASC database.

Doug

The Bruce Gabrielson Report

After I left IRI I visited some friends on South Carolina St in Fenwick.  Just south of where they are doing the beach replenishment some excellent hollow chest to head high rights were rolling in.  Got in another 1 1/2 hour session before my arms gave out.

Snake

ps Got some good rights at IRI as well as lefts.  Waves came in so fast at one point I had just time to paddle and turn to catch the next one. Caught 5 in quick succession once before I had to catch my breath.
