Location: Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Island, New Jersey
Formerly known as NJ Fish Fry, the AB3-East

spin. Check this blog for updates on boards getting built for the
event. http://www.anythingbut3east.blogspot.com/
Spring Camping Surfari
Date of Event: May 9-11, 2008 (Friday-Sunday)
(Volunteer Coordinator: Paul Moos)
Location: Assateague National
Seashore - Oceanside Group Site
Assateague
is wonderful in the Spring! The water is warming, the air is crisp but
no longer
frosty. No bugs. Late winter swells can still happen this time of the
year. Pleasant camping and pleasant (sometimes
fabulous!) surfing. The site is located just south of the North parking
lot/ranger station. We will have one of four sites there. Plenty of
parking. You will need to carry your camping gear in about 100 yards.
ASC Forecasting & Meteorology Guide for the DelMarVa (Volunteer Coordinator: Jack)
Date of Event: [Postponed until April or May, or until further notice]
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Chez Gary's Bar & Multimedia Center (see the Directions
on the SurfASC Forum) An
informal ASC get-together with a few of our best forecasters lecturing
on local surf forecasting, albeit voodoo science for DelMarVa. What are
the fundamental factors in predicting optimal swell timing and the
right place? What are high/low pressure systems, wind/swell directions,
tides, oceanography/geography, man-made features, etc., etc., etc.?
What factors should the discriminating ASC waverider understand to
enhance one's ability to plan vacations and hit destinations elsewhere?
Plans include linking up a laptop to a TV or projection screen, run
some Powerpoint slides, and access Internet forecasting resources
(ranging from subcription-based to freebie, raw data (e.g., Surfline,
Swell Info, NWS/NOAA/NHC).

an opportunity for members to meet each other, listen to the campaign
speeches of Board nominees and to poke fun at surfers being way too
serious. Discussions about the Club’s direction tend to be laced with
stories about the great hurricane swell from the preceding week.
Remembering the issues provided by the candidates and wondering about
the number of pints consumed, is a common complaint on the following
morning. Come join in on the fun, but be sure and remember your speech
and campaign promises.

of Surfing Paddleout
Date of Event: June
20, 2008 (Friday)
Time: 9:00am
Location: Ocean City Inlet Surfing Beach
Surfers from across the globe
will
unite to celebrate International Surfing Day. The annual observance,
now in its fourth year, was established to inspire waveriders
everywhere to take a day to share and acknowledge their mutual love of
surfing and our beach and ocean environments. As in previous years, the
Surfrider Foundation is hosting beach clean-ups and other events in
locations throughout the world. Surfrider
activists nationwide paddle
out to raise awareness of water quality and the “State Of The Beach.”
Besides the
expected "surfing" organizations, invites will be extended to locale
environmental groups and National/local political leaders to join us in
the quest to inform the public of our combined efforts to achieve and
maintain a clean water environment. For several years, DelMarVa area
surfers
joined together in a "Circle of
Solidarity" clean water paddle (see pictures
and more here).
This event replaces the September OCSF Respect the Beach Paddleout. It is being hosted by the Surfrider Foundation's Ocean City Chapter
in co-ordination with the Capitol and Delaware Chapters, and with the
support of the MD ESA, Ocean City Beach Patrol, the 62nd Street
Longboard Club and the Annapolis Surf Club. Volunteers are needed at
8:30am!

finless - sure you surf good with fins, lets see you try without them;
(3) Ripping Reps - short boards only and you must be a surf rep to
enter; (4) Stand up paddle (beach boy) - Surfers use oars to paddle
themselves into waves; and (5) Best Trick (open) - ride whatever board
you want - the surfer who does the most amazing maneuver wins. ASC's
Austin Saunders, owner of Austin Surfboards, is a sponsor. Last year, in addition to placing 7th in the team
contest, our members were the top three fundraisers. We rented an

This
is the period to step up and help run the ASC. Nominate yourself,
your friend or the member that you see supporting the Club on an
on-going basis. The
officer and board member descriptions are posted in the nominations
forum.
The primary requirement for service is an interest in promoting the
sport of surfing, protecting the environment and a commitment to do
something for the Club. The success of the
Club is directly related to the dedication and involvement of its
members. The time commitment is minimal, but the mission is important.
Your vote helps direct our success and may prove beneficial to the next
generations surfing opportunities.
